Who We Are:

A Team of dedicated health care professionals from numerous perspectives who want to improve quality of care.  Of particular interest is the problem of pressure ulcers (sometimes referred to as decubitus, pressure sores and bedsores), which can be reduced with improved awareness, education, and legislation.  Team members include doctors, nurses, aides, administrators, and representatives from state agencies, professional organizations, and health care manufacturers.

 

Purpose:

Our Team will be a comprehensive resource for activities and information regarding the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers.

Goals:    

 

-Provide a resource team that can address all issues pertaining to pressure ulcers

-Develop methodology for accurate collection and analysis of pressure ulcer incidence throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia

-Increase public awareness of the incidence of pressure ulcers

-Develop and implement education and training programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of all providers in preventing pressure ulcers

-Assist policy makers in improving legislation and regulations involving the quality of health care

-Support quality improvement efforts regarding prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia
